The Town of Walpole is seeking applicants for a full time, 35 hours/week position of Program Coordinator for the Recreation Department. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for planning, implementing, teaching, and managing a variety of recreational programs, with a strong emphasis on summer camps and youth programs. This position requires a creative and organized individual with a background in recreation program development and camp management. This position also requires a flexible work schedule based on department needs including working nights and weekends.

SUPERVISION:
Works under the general supervision of the Recreation Director. The employee is expected to carry out recurring assignments independently, recognizing unusual circumstances that may require additional guidance. Regular review of work ensures adherence to technical accuracy and established procedures.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

  1. Engages with the general public, municipal departments, and community organizations.
  2. Plans, implements, teaches, and oversees multifaceted programs, including summer camps and youth sports.
  3. Develops budget and monitors program revenues and expenditures.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

  1. Program Development: Identify, design, and implement new recreation programs, including summer camps, from start to finish.
  2. Instructor Coordination: Recruit, train, and manage qualified instructors for various programs.
  3. Scheduling and Logistics: Schedule programs, book facilities, and ensure all logistical details are managed effectively.
  4. Registration Management: Input program details into CivicRec or MyRec systems for participant registration and management.
  5. Marketing and Promotion: Develop promotional materials and strategies to advertise programs and maximize participant enrollment.
  6. Event Support: Collaborate with the team to plan and execute community-wide events, including working weekends and evenings as needed.
  7. Budget Management: Develop and manage program budgets, calculate program fees, and ensure financial sustainability.
  8. Participant Engagement: Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for participants of all ages.
  9. Feedback and Improvement: Gather participant feedback to continuously improve programs and services offered.
  10. Assisting with general town-wide marketing / communications / public service announcements.

Salary:

Full-time; Benefit eligible; Non-union position. $25.47/hour
